Jim, MaryPat, Dragan, Baha and I got together Thurs night to talk art!
MaryPat has a show coming up soon, Jim is thinking about his photography style, Dragan is thinking about marketing and Baha and I are working on your website to draw in work.
Lots to talk about! We started at 5:30pm and cut ourselves off at 9pm as it was getting late. We all agreed we need to do this again more regularly and the next stop is Dragan's house within the next couple of weeks so we can review MaryPat's final images for the show and Baha and I (mostly Baha) have completely redesigned our website.Baha will say it was an ambush for him regarding the critique on our website, and maybe it was a little as Jim and I had talked about it a few days before, but it was necessary and has resulted in an excellent redesign by Baha of our website.
It's hard to work in a bubble, you need to get feedback from folks who aren't so close to all the hard work. But we are growing and it's good to be flexible and be open to improving yourself always. It was a good exercise to go through again, ah the good ol' days when you got ripped apart daily. Aw, it wasn't that bad, couple bruises, but they are healing nicely. ;)

Oh, ambush smambush. Heat/kitchen/etc.
I could bullshit people about their work if that's what they wanted, but frankly I think the dialogue that we engaged in on Thursday has resulted in a dramatically improved redesign of the site.
The problem with web work is always going to be that to create anything that looks half-way decent (and original) you need to spend a lot of time. So when someone comes along and says "nice, but have you considered starting from scratch?" it is a horrific moment of panic.
But that's the way it goes. Although the thrust of my site is different now than it used to be, over the course of those sites I've started over four times.
The results are worth it.
Not to mention, you guys can ambush me all you want! We just didn't get to it the other night...
